Canine Friends Pet Therapy was invited to join with the residents of Summerset at Aotea to celebrate
Grandchildren’s Day on a gloriously sunny Sunday morning. Brandy, Madison and Sula arrived to find that they were not the only animal attraction as Zippity Zoo was already there. There was a menagerie of donkey, goat, sheep, lambs, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs. Brandy could not believe her eyes as some of the lambs had curly hair just like Brandy. Madison took great interest in making sure the animals did not move out of their designated spaces whilst Sula simply lay at people’s feet watching with her big brown eyes.
Madison and Sula eyed up the paddling/ fishing pond as a huge drinking bowl/ paw spa.
After mingling with the residents and their families, watching the face and nail painting and listening to some soothing music it was time for a sausage from the BBQ. That was when we discovered Elsie, a chocolate Labrador who was lying underneath watching for anything that might fall her way. We are hoping for a new recruit as she was a lovely calm friendly dog.

We did learn that baby chickens like sausages and can quickly turn into little demons in the race to collect and devour a morsel.
After the sausages there was ice cream to be shared with humans before Madison hitched a ride on the quad bike.
As Zippity Zoo was being loaded back into their truck amid lots of fuss, the canine friends bid farewell to the residents until their next rostered visit.
